
Iris Parkinson-Culbreth joined the OIC CADI family last school year, 2022-2023. Iris is a Behavioral Health Counselor who is on loan from the School District of Philadelphia. Iris has worked as a school counselor for 14 years with the school district. She has worked with all age groups of students ranging from Kindergarten to twelfth grade. Her primary focus for students is on their social-emotional well-being and to inspire and encourage students to reach their goals while sometimes working through known and unknown barriers. Iris believes that once their social-emotional needs are met, students can succeed academically.
In Iris’s spare time, she enjoys coaching girls’ field hockey as well as working as a Grief Counselor for families that have experienced violence in Philadelphia.
Iris holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Temple University and a Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology specializing in Children and Adolescent Therapy from Chestnut Hill College. She also holds Pennsylvania certifications in English 7-12 and School Counseling 7-12.
Iris is currently working on her Doctorate in Education with a focus on Higher Learning at Gwynedd Mercy University.
